Shopping & Seouls verrückte Cafés!

Heute nachmittag bin ich mit Layla durch Hongdae gezogen, einem Bereich im Stadtteil Mapu-gu, der sehr nah an dem Viertel liegt, in dem ich momentan lebe (Seodaemun-gu). Hongdae liegt nur eine Station mit der U-Bahn von uns entfernt und ist vor allem für sein Nachtleben bekannt. Darüberhinaus findet man hier so einige kuriose Cafés, wie ihr später sehen werdet.
Zuerst haben wir etwas Zeit in der U-Bahn Station verbracht, denn auch hier gibt es unzählige Läden. Die meisten U-Bahnhöfe gleichen hier nämlich eher einem Shoppingcenter. Layla und ich haben uns dazu hinreißen lassen, ein paar Socken mit Superhelden-Aufdruck zu kaufen, ausgefallene Socken findet man hier nämlich an jeder Straßenecke.
Unterwegs haben wir uns dann auch noch ein paar Bungeoppang gekauft. Das ist Teig, der in eine Fischform gepresst und dann mit roten Bohnen gefüllt wird. Ich habe vergessen, ein Foto davon zu machen und werde deshalb ein Bild von Google einfügen.

Etwas später fing es dann plötzlich unerwartet an zu schneien. Wir hatten beide nur dünne Jacken dabei und laut der Wettervorhersage war auch kein Schnee angekündigt. Völlig durchgefroren schmeckten die warmen Bungeoppang dann natürlich doppelt so gut.
Anschließend sind wir dann zu einem Café namens CaFACE gegangen, und der Name ist hier Program: Auf Wunsch kann man sein Gesicht auf ein Getränkt nach Wahl drucken lassen. Ein Besuch in diesem Laden stand sowieso auf meiner Liste und so entstanden die folgenden Bilder von meinem Green Tea Latte:
Wir verbrachten eine gute halbe Stunde im CaFACE und warteten darauf, dass der Schnee etwas nachlässt. Beim weiteren herumbummeln haben wir dann das berühmte Hello Kitty Café gefunden und uns dazu entschlossen, dort noch eine heiße Schokolade zu trinken, bevor wir uns auf den Rückweg machen. So ziemlich alles im Hello Kitty Café ist knallpink und etwas kitschig, dennoch war es eine lustige Erfahrung. So etwas gibt es in Deutschland immerhin nicht.
Als wir das Café verließen hatte der Schnee bereits etwas nachgelassen und wir sind nach weiterem Schaufensterbummeln dann auch gegen 18.00 Uhr mit der U-Bahn zurück nach Sinchon gefahren.

Shopping & Seoul’s Weird Cafés
Hey everyone!
Today me and Layla went to Hongdae, which is famous for its nightlife and its café culture. If you’re looking for the weirdest cafés you’ve ever seen Hongdae is the lace to go to, as you’ll see in this post.
Hongdae is pretty close to where I live, it’s just one subway stop away 🙂 The weird thing about subway stations here in Korea is that they don’t look like one. They hove tons of stores inside, you’ll be able to find anything ranging from shoes to cosmetics and food. It’s a bit like a miniature-sized mall, I’d say. That’s why we spend some time browsing through a couple shops before we actually hopped on the subway. We decided to buy some cute socks, as you can see above. Surprisingly, socks seem to be a thing here. You’ll find them everywhere, and they are cheap, too. A pair normally costs around 1000W, which equals around 75c.
We also got ourselves some Bungeoppang from a street vendor. They are little fishes made out of dough and filled with a sweet red bean paste. I quite like them and we may or may not have bought five of them for the two of us. Whoops?
After we left the subway station in Hongdae it suddenly started to snow, even though the weather forecast told us to expect sun and 4°C. I was only wearing my thin Yonsei Varsity jacket, so I was freezing.
To warm up we went to a place called CaFACE. I’ve heard about them before and we decided to give it a go. Basically, you chose a drink of your liking and they then print your picture on top of it. If I manage, I’ll include a video above to show you what my Green Tea Latte looked like.
We stayed at CaFACE for around half an hour before we decided to continue our shopping trip. We started to feel cold again and looked for the famous Hello Kitty Café to get ourselves a hot chocolate. Even though the Café is a bit over the top and somewhat corny it was a nice experience. After all you won’t find a café like this in the Netherlands/Germany.
